Crafted Beyond Expectation.
Built to Belong.
Riverbend Builders creates custom homes in Bozeman and across the Gallatin Valley, defined by thoughtful design, exceptional craftsmanship, and a deep connection to the Montana landscape.

Homes that belong to the people
and places they’re built for.
Too much of home construction is about meeting minimum requirements. Riverbend Builders treats every home as a system, designed around how you live and the site it sits on, so it stays efficient, durable, and healthy for decades.
Founder Matt Madden studied wood science at the University of Massachusetts and spent more than ten years as a carpenter building custom homes before starting Riverbend in 2001. Twenty-five years later, his team is still building across Bozeman and the Gallatin Valley.
The Standard in the Details
The finished home is only as strong as the decisions behind it. Based on how you live and where you’re building, we decide whether to pour a slab-on-grade foundation, how to insulate the walls and roof, which windows and doors to install, and whether radiant heat or alternative energy makes sense. We weigh every choice across three categories: smart design, energy-efficient systems, and recycled materials.
What Defines Our Work
- Efficient: minimal energy for maximum comfort, and a lighter footprint over the life of the home
- Durable: built to last with little maintenance, so you live in your home instead of working on it
- Healthy: spaces that support your well-being, inside and out
- Practical: sustainable where it counts, and a solid shelter above all
Building something exceptional?
Whether it’s a new custom home, an addition, or a remodel, Matt and the Riverbend team work with homeowners, architects, and designers across southwest Montana from the earliest plans. Tell us about your site and how you want to live, and we’ll talk through what it will take to build it well.
