Our Story

Built differently from the beginning.

Riverbend Builders is led by founder Matt Madden, who earned a degree in Wood Management and Technology from the University of Massachusetts before heading west. That background gives the company both a craftsman’s eye and a technical understanding of how building materials perform.

Matt spent more than ten years building custom homes as a carpenter before founding Riverbend Builders in 2001. From the start, Riverbend was among the first builders in the Bozeman area to put sustainability at the center of how homes are designed and built.

Twenty-five years later, Riverbend is still a small, highly skilled team by design: [X] people, with [in-house trades]. As the Gallatin Valley has grown, staying small has let us stay closely involved in every custom home, addition, and remodel we take on, from Bozeman to Paradise Valley.

Sustainability

Sustainable building should make sense.

For Riverbend Builders, sustainability has never been about adding a few “green” products to a home.

It is about considering the home as a complete system—how it connects to its environment, how efficiently it operates, how healthy it is to live in, and how well it will perform over time.

We take a practical approach to sustainable construction, making smart design decisions based on the homeowner, the site, and the project itself.

Above all, we are building a structure meant to shelter the people inside it for years to come.

Efficiency

A well-designed home uses energy intelligently, staying comfortable while reducing its impact over its lifetime.

Durability

A home should be built to last. From solid framing to detailed finish work, we choose materials and methods that let you spend more time enjoying your home and less time maintaining it.

Health

The way a home is designed and built should support the people living inside it. We consider the systems, materials, and construction decisions that create a comfortable, healthy place to live.

Our Approach

Exceptional work starts with the right team.

We work closely with homeowners, architects, designers, and trade partners who share our commitment to thoughtful design and careful execution. [Optionally name two or three long-standing architect or trade partners.]

Every project is different. Our standard is not.
